Soft skills training Part I – Communication skills

The soft skills training series for grid and operations management personnel comprises four two-day training modules. The content was developed together with training managers and subject matter experts from the grid management of German transmission and distribution grid operators. They are based on the European Commission’s System Operation Guideline (Commission Regulation (EU 2017/1485 Art 58)).

The soft skills training series consists of the following modules:

• Module I: “Communication skills”
• Module II: “Decision-making skills”
• Module III: “Stress resistance”
• Module IV: “Sense of responsibility”

The communication readiness module aims to increase participants’ own readiness for efficient and crisis-proof communication and to apply tools for efficient communication specifically in everyday working life.

• Selected communication models – “How exactly does it work?”
• Barriers and disruptions to communication – “What could go wrong? And why does it sometimes go wrong?
• Dealing with “difficult” conversations or dialogue partners
• Communication in critical situations
• Stress – its origins and effects on communication
• Tools to support communication
