Goals
In addition to teaching technical expertise, the basic course provides practical and hands-on training in the skills required to analyse, select methods and communicate. The focus is on the principles of safe grid operation, the implementation of the 5 safety rules for establishing and securing a de-energised state and the use of switching language. Successful completion of the examination is certified with the award of the switching qualification.

methodology
Seminar-based lecture, individual and group exercises with and without GridLab grid simulator (the use of the GridLab grid simulator enables everyone to plan and implement switching operations and set up workstations with confidence)

• Planning of work processes for establishing and securing the de-energised state with the necessary safety measures
• Training of switching operations using the switching language and taking into account different operating modes and special fault scenarios
• Practice in a 110 kV substation
